Installation of X-CD-Roast on Ubuntu/Debian-Systems

Installing X-CD-Roast on Ubuntu from my PPA (Personal Package Archive) is the quickest way to get started.

See also here: https://launchpad.net/~tn-6/+archive/ubuntu/xcdroast/

Ubuntu: Run the following commands in a terminal window:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:brandonsnider/cdrtools
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tn-6/xcdroast
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cdrecord mkisofs cdda2wav
sudo apt-get install xcdroast

For Debian the "add-apt-repository" command does not exist.
You can however just download the packages needed from the PPA-Websites and install manually, or you add the PPA to your sources repositories yourself.

This will also install Brandons Sniders CDRTools-Packages, which are required for X-CD-Roast.
After installation X-CD-Roast is available in your application launcher.

Currently I provide packages for:

  • Ubuntu Trusty (14.04) aka Debian 8 (Jessie)
  • Ubuntu Xenial (16.04) aka Debian 9 (Stretch)
  • Ubuntu Bionic (18.04) aka Debian 10 (Buster)
  • Ubuntu Cosmic (18.10)
  • Ubuntu Focal (20.04)
More packages can be provided on request.

For a quick start please look at the X-CD-Roast Manual, which is a bit outdated, but still useful.
